The six-speed manual transmission has been improved and is now smoother and more accurate. The gearbox now assembles a synchronization system that equalizes the level of revolutions at the time of the change, which guarantees the maximum connection between the car and the machine.

In addition to all this, the geometry of the MacPherson strut front suspension of the five-door model has been optimized in order to minimize the effects of torque and improve sports driving. At the rear, the new independent multi-link suspension system incorporating the standard 5-door version has been enhanced by the use of unique high rigidity arms.

A new selection of driving modes gives the car more functionality compared to the previous Type R. The new model now has the "Comfort" mode, plus the «Sport» mode and the «+ R» mode. In each mode, adaptive dampers, steering strength, feel in gear changes and acceleration response are tailored to the driver's liking.

The new Civic Type R features a more complete aerodynamic structure than the previous model, including low fairings, unite new generation of air curtains that minimize the turbulence of the front wheel arches, a lighter rear spoiler and vortex generators in the Rear edge of the roof line.
